About Us
The Christian Biblical Church of God was established in 1983 by a small group of seven true believers and one minister, Fred R. Coulter, when they separated themselves from another Church of God organization which had embraced non-scriptural beliefs and practices. The CBCG has since grown to minister to thousands in various fellowship groups and small congregations—as well as to thousands of scattered believers around the world. Over 40,000 people actively use the CBCG’s Web sites each month to assist them in their Christian lives and studies. The name of the Church is succinctly descriptive of our beliefs and practices:
Christian:
We believe and practice the teachings of Jesus Christ as found in the New Testament—as we are to live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. We are instructed by Jesus to love the Lord God with all our heart, all our soul, and with all our mind; we are to love our neighbors as ourselves; we are to love each other as Jesus loved us; and we are to love our enemies. Each individual Christian is to develop a relationship with God the Father and Jesus Christ through a life of loving obedience, daily prayer and Bible Study.
Biblical:
We believe the Holy Bible, Old and New Testaments, is the complete Word of God—and that there is a profound Unity of Scripture that exists between the Old and New Testaments. God directly inspired His chosen servants by the power of His Holy Spirit to record the Scriptures for all mankind. The Bible is the very foundation of knowledge, imparting the understanding of salvation through Jesus Christ and showing mankind how to live God’s way of life in both the letter and spirit of His Law. True Christianity is based on the entire Word of God as it applies to the individual Christian and to the Church.
Church:
As portrayed in the Scriptures, the Church of God is the spiritual Body of Jesus Christ—the collective body of true, converted believers, wherever they may be in the world, scattered or affiliated with various churches of God. God the Father has appointed Jesus Christ to be Head of His Church. While there are ordained elders and leaders to teach the brethren and to oversee the affairs of the Church, no man is the head of the Church of God—only Jesus Christ.
The CBCG has no ministerial hierarchy, but recognizes elders who are chosen by local congregations that support this work of preaching and publishing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and feeding the flock of God. The Christian Biblical Church of God is headquartered in Hollister, California, and maintains offices in England, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. Office addresses may be found on the Contact Us page of this Web site.
of God:
Jesus said that His true Church—made up of those true believers who have the Holy Spirit of God—would be kept in the name of God the Father. Therefore, the CBCG is called a Church “of God.”
